This illustration began as a simple sketch of an old bearded man looking at and waving to something. As I started painting, the idea of a person with hair all over their body seemed cooler and than I followed this path.
I placed her sitting on a large rock, and then the idea of a river emerged. As the painting evolved, a big fish began to resemble some kind of entity, and that's when the story began. A human entity that can create things with a movement of its hands. Well, it may not receive any award of best story, but it works.
Researching on my sketches I decided that It would be a nice opportunity to create a Walter Crane / Middle Age inspired layout, with those boxes and small illustrations helping to build the composition.
Next, I created an ornamental border to give the image a medieval touch. I think, in the end, it worked well.
